HFT 4757 Event Management

This course concentrates on established standards, techniques, and practices of event management. The focus is on social and business functions and the management of large scale and independent events. This course also focuses on advanced planning and managing of special events, from ideas and concepts through the actual event implementation and follow-up. Students have the opportunity to focus on detailed elements of event management.

Fall 2019: HFT 4757 Event Management

For the Fall 2019 – HFT 4757 Event Management, 2 guest speakers were invited and a field trip was organized.

  • Guest Speakers – Kevin Egan, Incoming President, Meeting Professional International (MPI) Tampa Chapter,  & Mark Pinson, CEO, Entangle Media
  • Guest Speaker – Dr. Seden Dogan, Visiting Scholar, CHTL at USFSM
  • Field Trip – Marshall Student Center, University of South Florida (hosts 19,000 events annually)

Event Planning Project: Students Are Organizing Their Own Events

 

Students in a group of 3-5 developed a comprehensive plan for an event and managed it from point A to point Z as part of their final class project! Each team picked a theme for their own events.
